Career HQ Phase 2 features rollout
Rapid prototyping, testings, Interface design
Career HQ is a platform that helps students and adults to choose what to study, pick the right career, and transition options to change their career. Coaching, interests and personality tests are part of the service to offer more tailored advice and suggestions.
The brief was to release a phase 2 feature - a search bar that allows users to fluidly explore career/course options based on course/career preference, alongside with a shortlist feature for members to bookmark their options. The most critical part of this challenge was to design the natural language use in search-bar, acting almost like a fill-in sentence so users can easily explore both databases in with only one search.
My role as a Junior designer at Mentally Friendly includes rolling out new features in products. I was fortunate to work with the project’s Developer, Product Manager and Design Director in the second phase rollout. With the guidance of design director to brainstorm terms that would fit into the language, quick paper prototyping in 1 day.
Outcomes and learnings
In this project, I have learned how to effectively collaborate with my team in a short timeframe, design languages used in the product, rapid prototyping, test and validate, touching on detailed journey like, “what if you cannot shortlist until you log in, what happens there?”, what does 'Idle state & error state' look like when particular search results are not available.
